A wallet device was designed for people who use hand sanitizer and for men who carry bags with them to places where floors can get dirty.
A hand sanitizing device for on the go was designed and developed along with solutions for everyday personal management issues of life. Instead of designing a new device for someone to remember to take with them on the go, it was chosen to design the solution to these problems into devices that nearly everyone is taking with them when they leave home.
“It’s very hard to look someone in the eye and say, your way of life may not be able to proceed” (ABC News, 2022). Why is it so hard to say that when it comes to our water habits? Constraining our personal ‘water habits’ at the individual level can contribute to improved efficiency in water consumption. Public toilets were observed to see how many people wash and dry their hands in the western world and to identify poor public hygiene practices. Hand sanitation is important. Clean hands prevent a lot of health issues that you don’t need. Water and soap is the traditional method for hand washing. Recently, hand sanitizer has been widely promoted to battle the COVID-19 virus. This has become a popular substitute where water and soap are unavailable on the go, such as when entering a store or a building.

Observations in men’s public toilets were undertaken at Westfield Garden City (180 participants total). It was found that people come into toilets with bags and coffee cups or drink bottles and leave them. A surprising amount of people rub their hands on their clothes even after drying them.
