This baby monitor also includes AI technology, unique detachable sensors and includes privacy protection switch. It comes with a wall mount, flexipod and a parent monitor.
In the modern world, for almost every new parent, baby monitors are considered an essential safety tool for a baby’s room. In fact, the baby monitor market was valued at approximately 1.4 billion AUD in 2020 and is expected to reach 2.62 billion AUD in 2028 (The Insight Partners, 2022).
The first baby monitor was released in 1937 and was a simple one-way radio system (Onion, 2013). Following this, in 1999, the first video baby monitor was released and emerged after many cases were reported of nannies treating babies poorly (Harwell, 2020). As of the 2000’s, Wi-FI capability was also implemented and these type of baby monitors make up majority of today’s market (Anderegg, 2020). With increasing advanced technology, manufacturers have also started incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into baby monitors.
Considering the abundant of advanced technology available today, it can be noted that most baby monitors remain underdeveloped and lack in proper cyber security, quality technology and human connection.
Research obtained from literature, interviews and surveys indicated that despite some people fearing that such advanced baby monitors may become the digital replacement of touch, results found that 85% of users complained about the lack of quality in baby monitor technology and wanted to see artificial intelligence incorporated in baby monitors. In addition, all participants worried about privacy (particularly young parents).
The areas opportunities identified that could improve baby monitors include adding more secure privacy settings, incorporating better quality and functioning technology and improving the human experience between parents and babies.
In order to solve the problem, the aim is to explore and improve the next generation of baby monitors by applying modern technology that will further provide parents with a sense of security and assistance in taking care of their baby/babies.

Unlike any other baby monitors, this baby monitor includes unique detachable sensors, includes added privacy protection features and includes AI technology which is able to interpret and understand a baby’s cry. It also include a wall mount, flexipod, parent monitor and an application for easy use and portability.
Jupneek is currently a final year undergraduate Industrial Design and a Mechatronics student who is passionate about incorporating robotics and AI technology into user friendly designs.
